About The Church

The mission of the Free Methodist Church of North America is to Love God and People and to Make Disciples of Jesus.  Its vision is to bring wholeness to the world through healthy biblical communities of holy people multiplying disciples, leaders, groups, and churches.  The Ripon Free Methodist Church Seeks to live out this vision here in the central valley, to worship and learn together, to serve the needs of others, and to invite all people to accept Jesus' offer of forgiveness and enter into a relationship of trust and obedience to him.

As Christians, we draw our beliefs from the Bible, which we believe to be God’s inspired message to every person.  It contains the truth about who God the Father, Jesus the Son of God, and the Holy Spirit are – one God in three persons who are constantly in loving relationship and harmonious cooperation with each other.  It teaches us that God is all-knowing, ever-present, all-powerful and perfect in love.

The Bible teaches us that we, on the other hand, are not perfect and that we are all in need of forgiveness for our choices that do not please God.  Every choice we make that is not perfect in love we call sin and the result of sin is spiritual death and separation from God.

The Bible teaches us that Jesus, the Son of God, although he is God and has existed eternally, was born as a human being and lived a human life – the only human life lived entirely free of sin.  As an adult, he taught about God’s will, how to live a life defined by love, and that salvation from sin could only be found by believing in him.  Then Jesus was arrested and executed by being nailed to a wooden cross and he died.  He allowed this to happen to him so that his sacrifice would pay the price for our sin.  Then three days later, he rose to new life, overcoming the power of death itself.

Now, because of Jesus’ sacrifice and resurrection, if we choose to believe in him, if we confess our sin to him and accept his forgiveness, we can have new life in our spirits during this lifetime and eternal life in God’s presence after our bodies die.  If we decide to become Jesus’ followers, to let God empower us to live the way He asks us to in the Bible, then we will gradually become free of the power sin has over us.  It is our gratitude to God for these amazing gifts that drives us to live our mission: to Love God, to Love People, and to make Disciples for Jesus.

Whether you are looking for a caring community, spiritual truth, or a place to worship God with others, I would like to invite you to join us at the Ripon Free Methodist Church.  We are all on a journey in life and I believe God desires to walk with you on your journey.  When we walk through life together, as a spiritual family, we can lean on eachother for strength and encouragement.

As a pastor I believe my primary job is to lead and empower a community of Christians to live out everything that God has for them and to invite new people into that community.  I have a very high view of God’s call on every Christian.  I believe that nearly everything important to being a good pastor is also vital for being a good Christian grocer or mail carrier or plumber or homemaker.  My desire for myself and for the other leaders in our church is that we might live a Christian life in a way that others can follow, that we might help them live for God wherever they are, and that by doing so we might find opportunities to invite our neighbors to live for Jesus as well.

May God, who loves you more than we can know, fill your life with purpose and hope!
