What We Believe

As Christians, we draw our beliefs from the Bible, which we believe to be God’s inspired message to every person.  It contains the truth about who God the Father, Jesus the Son of God, and the Holy Spirit are – one God in three persons who are constantly in loving relationship and harmonious cooperation with each other.  It teaches us that God is all-knowing, ever-present, all-powerful, and perfect in love.

The Bible teaches us that we, on the other hand, are not perfect and that we are all in need of forgiveness for our choices that do not please God.  Every choice we make that is not perfect in love we call sin and the result of sin is spiritual death and separation from God.  Scripture further explains that Jesus, the Son of God – although he is God and has existed eternally – was born as a human being and lived a human life.  His was the only human life lived entirely free of sin.  As an adult, he taught about God’s will, how to live a life defined by love, and that salvation from sin could only be found by believing in him.  Jesus was arrested and executed by being nailed to a wooden cross.  He allowed this to happen to him so that his sacrifice would pay the price for our sin.  Three days after his death, he rose to new life, overcoming the power of death itself!

Because of Jesus’ sacrifice and resurrection, we too we can experience new life in our spirits during this lifetime and eternal life in God’s presence after our bodies die.  Jesus offers this amazing gift to anyone and EVERYONE who chooses to believe in him, confesses their sins to him, and accepts his forgiveness.  If we decide to become Jesus’ followers and allow God to empower us to live the way He asks us to in the Bible, then we will gradually become free of the power sin has over us.  It is our gratitude to God for these amazing gifts that drives us to fully live out our mission: to love God, to love people, and to make disciples for Jesus.
